The interior ministry has delivered more than a million of biometric identity cards since January. Residence certificate will be soon not requested in administrative procedures.

Algeria News Agency (APS) quoted computer systems director at the ministry Mahfoud Redouane, saying there are less fake documents thanks to the automatic national register. It was linked with ministries in 2015.

He added that administrative documents will be delivered through the Internet starting from 2017. This will happen after electronic signature comes into force.

“This will enable municipalities to focus more on other missions including local development,” Redouane said.
