The Algerian Football Federation’s president Mohamed Raouraoua warned to exclude striker Sofiane Faghouli from the national team if his situation in his club does not change before the African Cup of Nations, Echorouk has learnt.

According to the same source, the national team’s defeat by Nigeria (3/1) and the result of a previous match against Cameron (1/1) as part of the world cup qualifiers 2018 will push Raouraoua to take a set of measures. He would not call in players who do not play with their clubs regularly and suffer a lack of competition. This had a negative impact on the national team’s collective performance. Algeria may needs a real miracle to come back to the race and qualify to the Russia world cup.

Raouraoua tried to hide his anger following the defeat by Nigeria. Yet, he told some of his companions on his way back to Algeria along with the national team that he will change his way of dealing with some players. He mentioned Faghouli.

The same source said Raouraoua warned that he will exclude many players who are in the same situation as Faghouli. Goalkeeper Mbolhi may be out of competition ahead of the African Cup of Nations.

It seems that Raouraoua is still angry about Faghouli. The players made statements to French media, criticizing him and saying he made a mistake by choosing Serbian coach Milovan Rajevac for Algeria.

New coach Georges Leek warned players who do not play a lot with their clubs. He asked them to find a solution to their situation if they want to keep their position with the national team.

Observers believe that many changes will made to the 23 players-list. Some names will be excluded and some others will be called in.
