Over eight million bio metric passports and one million bio metric national identification cards were delivered so far.

Candidates for the BAC 2017 will obtain the new documents through the use of a secret code that will allow, from the beginning of 2017, citizens to obtain all documents electronically, in order to avoid travelling to the municipality of birth or residence.

"Over 8.2 million passports, including 2 million passports for the Algerian community that is living abroad, were delivered since the creation of a mail system for passports and national identity cards. A deadline of five years was identified for the delivery of bio metric national identification cards, with a rate of 6 million cards annually. Efforts will be made to reduce this term to three or four years".

"Over 3 million similar documents will be delivered with the end of the current year, and between 6 and 7 million others will be delievered in 2017, while this bio-metric card will be delivered within 3 to 4 years. Citizens would go only once to the municipality in question after the digitization of their data in the event of requesting the document from the fact that a new valid information is available for all the necessary documents. All bio-metric documents are secured and protected. A code will allow, from the beginning of 2017, to withdraw all documents electronically, in order to avoid travelling to the municipality of birth or residence".
