The President of the Algerian Football Federation Mohamed Raouraoua will not run for a new term during the next electoral general assembly, Echorouk has learnt.

Raouraoua told officials at the Federation that he will focus on renewing his membership at the Confederation of African Football for a fourth term. This will happen during an electoral general assembly due to be held in Addis Ababa in March.

Raouraoua said he will not run for a new terms due to a fierce campaign launched against him after the national team’s failure in the African Cup of Nations 2017 in Gabon.

A large media controversy was raised following statements made by the sports minister Hadi Ould Ali criticizing and asking Raouraoua to leave.

According to the same sources, Raouraoua held a meeting with the Secretary General of the Algerian Football Federation to prepare for its ordinary general assembly.

He expressed his desire to help the Federation’s forthcoming president and cooperate with him.

Raouraoua will arrive to Algeria on Thursday after he finished his commitments with the Confederation of African Football during the African Cup of Nations competition.
