Industry and Mines Minister, Abdessalam Bouchouareb, spoke during a meeting with economic operators at the headquarters of Chlef province (western Algeria), on Tuesday, briefly about Peugeot and the cause of the project's delay.

"Peugeot factory is not a priority now", he said.
"We should pay attention to other problems like unemployment and the housing crisis".
The minister attributed the reasons behind the delay of the project's actualization on the ground to the lack of agreement with the project's owners, without providing further clarification.
During his inspection visit to Chlef, he ordered the state authorities to recover all industrial properties that were for the benefit of some brokers, which owners were not directly involved in the embodiment of their projects. While standing on the disastrous situation of the Industrial Zone in Wadi Selli, he revealed on a decision to decentralize the operation of industrial zones to enable the managers to control the improvement of the working conditions of investors.
 Bouchouareb ordered the immediate use of the first two industrial zones in Wadi Salli on an area of 130 hectares and the launching of another study in Boukadir with 230 hectares, And grants the city a fourth industrial zone, focusing on the need to remedy the delay in the completion of the third line of the cement plant and its derivatives in the industrial zone of Chlef, and to respect the deadlines and operating it in coincidence with the revival of November,1 Revolution Day celebration, with a production capacity of about two million tons annually, which is enough to meet the needs of the local market.
