Corruption: employees in 39 administrations to declare their properties

The government obliged agents and executives in 39 public administrations to declare their properties in accordance with a decision signed by the Prime Minister.

The decision came to enhance surveillance measures as corruption phenomenon is on the rise.

The list includes 251 categories of executives and employees working in 39 public administrations. They have to declare their properties. 

Employees at taxes, customs and the State’s estates administrations are concerned by the procedure.

Other administrations were added to the list including the finance general administration, the administration in charge of fraud repression, the administration in charge of competition and economic investigations and prisons administration. 

The list also includes the following administrations: the administration in charge of national security, the Civil Protection, transport, public works, energy, cultural heritage, youth and sports, the administration in charge of diplomatic agents and consuls, the labor general inspection department, agriculture and rural development, fishing, forests, the administration in charge of industries, mines, wakfs, vocational training, public health, housing, the administration in charge of higher education and scientific research, the administration in charge of tourism and handcrafts, the administration in charge of post, the administration in charge of information and communication technologies, national solidarity, national education, water resources and environment. 

The Transparency International’s reports usually ranks Algeria among the first countries in terms of corruption in public administrations.
