Algerian-Iranian Consultations On Regional Crises

Iranian Foreign Minister Mohamed Javad Zarif said on Sunday that "in view of regional and international developments, we need to consult with Algeria, which is the first stage of a tour of the region".

Mr. Javad Zarif told the press after arriving at Houari Boumediene International Airport of Algiers where he was welcomed by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Abdelkader Messahel that he was happy to be present in Algeria, the sister country; stressing that the relations between the two countries are "good, solid and multifaceted."

The head of Iranian diplomacy said that Algeria and Iran "have a policy of consultation at the international level, as well as in terms of enhancing cooperation between Islamic countries and non-aligned countries."

"In this context, we need more consultation and coordination," Mohamed Javad Zarif said, while expressing his thanks and gratitude to the Algerian Government and people for their “warm hospitality".

Iranian Foreign Minister Mohamed Javad Zarif began a visit to Algeria on Sunday as part of a tour of North Africa.

Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Bahram Qasimi has announced that Foreign Minister Mohamed Javad Zarif will start a regional tour on Sunday, which will last two days, and will include Algeria, Tunisia and Mauritania.

"The visit comes at the invitation of these countries, to strengthen the bilateral ties between them and Iran”, he noted.

 

He also said that Mr. Javad Zarif will discuss with the parties concerned the latest developments of regional issues, especially those related to the Syrian file, and the developments unfolding in the Gulf countries' tricky relations.
