Russian President Vladimir Putin issued a decree appointing Igor Beliyaev as Moscow's ambassador to Algeria, with the new ambassador taking over his tasks from the date of his appointment.

"We announce from the date of the appointment of Igor Beliyaev as the Extraordinary Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Russian Federation to the People's Democratic Republic of Algeria and the exemption of Alexander Zolotov from his duties as Russia Ambassador to Algeria ", the presidential decree that was published on the Russian legislative information website said.

Prior to his appointment, Igor Beliyaev was appointed deputy director of the Middle East and North Africa Department at the Russian Foreign Ministry.
