Abdelghani Hamel: "Crime Among Immigrants Is Not A Phenomenon"

Spread of crime among African immigrants is few and does not deserve being described as a phenomenon, Major. General Abdelghani Hamel, General Manager of the National Security, said on Monday, on the sidelines of his supervision on inaugurating the headquarters of Algiers public security.

He was asked about the case of attacks against illegal immigrants on citizens, and he said: "There are some attacks that do not deserve being called a phenomenon".

He explained the way of dealing with this file: "This is a political case is discussed by politicians, and we are just applying political and government's decisions".     

Previously, the statement of the General Secretary of RND party, Ahmed Ouyahia, about African immigrants, raised a large controversy, after he called upon the government to be careful of their presence because of the danger which they consist on citizens due to the spread of crime among them.
