Algeria signs first free trade agreement with Palestine
Algerian Trade Minister Hachemi Djaaboub
Algerian Trade Minister Hachemi Djaaboub Sunday said Algeria took enough measures to prevent Israeli commodities from benefiting from the Algerian market after the signature of an agreement on total exemption from taxes on Palestinian goods. The minister confirmed that the agreement is meant to facilitate Palestinian investments in Algeria and support Palestinian economy and resistance.
- He added that Palestinian producers and exporters will seriously work on preventing Israeli companies from benefiting from this privilege.
- According to him, Palestinians know well how much Algerian people are sensitive about dealing with Israelis. “This is an opportunity for Palestinians because Algeria has never granted this exception to any country including the Arab ones except Jordanian medicines.
- “Algeria respects the principle of radical change on commodity nature as part of determining its nationality. Because of that, the place where goods are made is very important for Algeria,” the minister noted.
- He mentioned that this step will be followed by the establishment of a Palestinian Algerian business council and a joint chamber of industry and trade to support Palestinian exports to Algeria.
