Algeria holds Fourth Energy Week
Algeria will open the Fourth Energy Week Saturday with the participation of more than 1,700 exhibitors and 240 companies from 35 countries.
- Under the slogan of "The new world of Energy: challenges but also opportunities,” Algeria’s energy week will be marked by the participation of Neelie Kroes, Member Of The European Commission In Charge Of Competition.
- Organizers say the event taking place in Algiers is an occasion to introduce technological progress in hydrocarbons and energy industry in Algeria.
- Inaugurated by Algerian Energy Minister Chakib Khelil, the energy week will include three axes: the fourth Algeria Oil & Gas Exhibition (ALOGE4) between November 15 and 19, the sixth International Strategic Conference (CSI6) on investment opportunities in Algeria’s energy sector between November 16 and 17 and the eight Scientific and Technical Days of Sonatrach (JST8) between November 18 and 19.
- The third edition of the event which was created in 2002 took place in 2006 in the province of Oran (west of Algeria).
- Algeria’s hydrocarbon sector represents 98 percent of export revenues.
- Earlier in August, Khelil said his country’s energy sector plans to invest $45.5 billion in 2008-2012, with $35.8 billion from the state-owned energy group Sonatrach and $9.7 billion from foreign partners.
