600 goldfinch birds freed in Algeria

The Forest Conservation Authority freed Sunday 600 goldfish birds seized by the National Gendarmerie in several market places in the Province of Oran west of Algeria.

 
  •  These protected birds are loved for their beautiful and colourful feather as well as their "singing". they are smuggled and sold in market places at 7000 DZ to 8000 DZ each. This illegal trade threatens Goldfinch birds in Algeria.
  •  Goldfinches, Latin name “Carduelis”, with 122 species, a bright red face and yellow wing patch, are found in forests, scrub, and open country, where they feed on seeds, buds, and insects and build open nests in trees, bushes, or on the ground. They occur in Europe, Asia, Africa, and North, Central and South America.
