Russia –E.U showdown over missile deployment issue

The European external relations commissioner Benita Ferrero-Waldner blasted on Monday Moscow's decision to deploy missiles in Kaliningrad, a Russian enclave surrounded by European Union member countries.

•  She dubbed this "signal" from Moscow as "not positive" for European security.
•  Ferrero Waldner said in an interview with the Russian newspaper "Gazeta" that the Russian missile deployment move was not "logical", as she put it.
•  "Russian President Dimitri Mdvedev proposes a new European security system but moves ahead with missile deployment, this could be construed on the E.U part as "a threat", she pointed out.
