3 Algerian Companies Among 100 Best Family Companies In The Middle East

Forbes Middle East revealed its ranking of the Best Arab Family Companies in the Middle East for 2020, highlighting 100 largest companies, which helped develop the region.

The list, which was published by the magazine on its website, included 3 Algerian family companies, which are “Cevital Complex” ranked 22nd, then “Ben Hammadi Complex” ranked 92nd, and “Mahri group”, belongs to Djilali Mahri, and it ranked 100th and last.

The magazine provided a brief definition of each company and mentioned about Cevital that; “It was founded by the billionaire Issad Rebrab, is the first and largest private company in Algeria, and the group that has 26 subsidiaries on 3 continents owns the largest sugar refinery in the world with an annual production capacity of two million tons, the largest sugar refinery in Africa, and produces 570,000 tons annually. Over the past decade, Issad Rebrab, who is the Group’s Chairman and CEO, ranked 426 on the Forbes list of the world’s richest men in 2020″.

Forbes Middle East said about Ben Hammadi Group; “The holding company of the Ben Hammadi family in Algeria dates back to the family’s business activity, which was founded by Hajj Mohamed Taher Ben Hammadi. The company “Condor”, the group’s largest company, is engaged in the manufacture and distribution of electrical and household appliances, computers, agricultural food, packaging, construction and building.

The magazine added that; “Mehri Group was founded by Djilali Mehri, an Algerian businessman, which works in the trade, real estate, tourism, hotels and agriculture, and manufacturing as well. The group includes the Atlas Packaging company, the only plant that packs Pepsi products in Algeria. The group also has several luxury hotels in Algeria, including (The Royal Hotel), (La Gazelle d’Or) and (La Coupole). Its portfolio includes important brands”.

The list was topped by the Egyptian “Mansour” group, and it has 3 members of the family on the Forbes list of the world’s rich 2020, the group is one of the largest distributors of the “General Motors” global group, followed by the Emirati “Al-Futtaim” group, and among the top ten, there are 4 companies from Saudi Arabia, 4 from the United Arab Emirates, and one company from Egypt and Kuwait.
