On Friday morning, the Coast Guard Services of Annaba, eastern Algeria, foiled an illegal immigration attempt of six young men who tried to cross the Mediterranean to reach the Italian island of Sardinia, where a traditional boat was intercepted, carrying young people from different cities of the country and who were arrested just miles north-east of Ras al-Hamra.

Clandestine Immigrants chose Shat Beach in the province of Al-Taraf (eastern Algeria) to take off on a traditional boat, where their boats were spotted by the watchtowers. Later, the Coast Guard services arrested the illegal immigrants 11 miles northeast of Ras al-Hamra, where they were returned to the headquarters of the Maritime Station of the Coast Guard Services and are in good health, then they were investigated and judicial files were filed against them and they will be referred to the Attorney of the Republic in Annaba to consider their case.

Echorouk sources said that the Coast Guard forces of the eastern waterfront in Annaba, which belongs to the Fifth military region, announced a state of maximum alert over the last 24 hours, with the aim of reducing the phenomenon of illegal migration, which increased in the coast of Annaba.

In the same context 10 illegal immigrants, who come from different neighborhoods of the state of Annaba and neighboring eastern provinces succeeded to escape surveillance and control and safely reach the Italian island of Sardinia after an illegal journey of about 12 hours.

As soon as they arrived safely on the other side of the Mediterranean, the illegal immigrants contacted their families.
