Credibility and integrity of the Algerian diplomacy qualify it to play the mediating role in resolving various crises, regional and international issues, including the Libyan file, The President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, said in an interview with Russia Today Tv Channel.
“Algeria’s efforts to solve the crisis in Libya stems from the common denominators that unite the two countries and the two peoples, such as language, religion and neighbourhood, and based on a balance that the Algerians can not forget and that is the Libyan people standing with the Algerian people during the liberation revolution”, he added.
On the recent visits of many foreign officials, President Tebboune asserted that Algeria “stands at the same distance from all parties and all those involved in any issue from the principle of non-alignment”.
“Whoever wishes to play the role of a mediator should not be biased towards any party. All those involved in this case are brothers and friends, similar to Egypt, the UAE, Russia and Turkey. Algeria is qualified to reach its voice to friends and brothers, and its only concern in this is to stop the bloodshed in this brotherly country”.
Regarding Turkey, Tebboune said: “We have very strong relationships with this country that extend for centuries and will continue, but Algeria will not be drawn into any policy that it does not choose. We are the ones who choose our country’s policy and no one can impose it on us”.
He explained that the upcoming visit of the Emir of a country Qatar means that: “We are not waiting for an exchange for our help, neither from the brothers in Qatar, nor from the Emirates or Saudi Arabia or Egypt, or even from other friends. The Emir of Qatar is a brother and he is welcome”.
Regarding relationships with Morocco and the possibility of opening the borders, the President said that “the disappearance of the disease will not come without the disappearance of its causes, and it was not recorded on Algeria one day if it insulted Morocco or its people …”, asserting that the “Algerian people have sincere affection for their Moroccan brothers … “.
Regarding the borders, President Tebboune mentioned that it was “closed as a reaction, and it was for the second time, and it was very painful more than its first closure”, noting that “the decision to close the border came in a very bad circumstance and was made at a time when a European country made all the Algerians terrorists, not to mention closing the air towards Algeria (…), in this circumstance, a sister country accused us of terrorism and imposed the visa on the Algerians”.
