Ahcene Boukhalfa: “Over 40,000 Algerian Visas Were Granted For Chinese In A Year”

Algeria consulate in Beijing, China, grants the largest number of visas worldwide, Algeria ambassador to the China, Ahcene Boukhalfa, said.

“More than 40,000 Chinese citizens were granted visas in 2017, and the pace is almost the same this year, especially with the signing of agreements to exploit phosphate in eastern Algeria next week, in addition to the central port project and others as well “.

Ahcene Boukhalfa, said in an interview with Echorouk and a number of national media, in the Chinese capital Beijing, that the Algerian consulate in Beijing is the first in the world in terms of granting the largest number of foreign visas to foreigners annually.

“Number of visas exceeded that were granted by Algeria to Chinese reaches 40.000 in 2017, and more than 50,000 visas in 2018”.

“Visas’ number will remain at the same pace due to the large projects that were carried out in a Chinese partnership, such as the central port in Cherchell, Tipaza, in addition to the phosphate project in partnership with Sonatrach”.

“In the coming days, a contract will be signed between Sonatrach and major Chinese companies in phosphate projects (from Tebessa to Souk Ahras, to Annaba and Skikda, (eastern Algeria).

It is known that the phosphate projects include the establishment of factories and conversion units, as announced by the General Manager of Sonatrach, Abdelmoumene Ould Kaddour, during a visit to Annaba last August, which value is more than $ 5 billion.

“Development projects for phosphate include the first project to establish a plant for the exploitation and enrichment of phosphate in Tebessa (eastern Algeria), while the second project in the unit to produce phosphoric acids and other acids, and will be located in Wed El Kabrit in the city of Souk Ahras (eastern Algeria)”.

The third project will be completed in Hadjar Essoud area, eastern Skikda province, and the main objective is to set up a unit to convert natural gas and produce ammonia fertilizer for use in the agriculture sector, and the fourth project is to set up a storage unit for use in the port of Annaba (eastern Algeria).

The Algerian ambassador to Beijing called on various Algerian companies to prepare for the second edition of the International Import Fair 2019 in Shanghai and register from now to book their own pavilions.

“All Algerian agricultural products are licensed to enter China, especially that the agreement of medical and phytosanitary certificates and animal health has been signed, and what is necessary is the signing of export contracts and obtaining the required licenses”.
