Air Algérie received the approval of the State’s Contributory Council for the purchase of six new planes worth $ 2 billion, Public Works and Transport Minister, Mostafa Kouraba, said on Tuesday in Algiers.
He explained, during an open session of the Council of Nation, that was organized to discuss the text of the revised law, which complies with the law No. 98-06 of 1998 to set out the General Rules on Civil Aviation, that Air Algérie will support six new planes, considering that the index of delayed flights for this company knows a raùarkable improvement that reached 80% (less than 20 minutes), noting that the global index is estimated at 83%.
The minister said that the company has currently an air cargo fleet that is consisting of 59 planes, including two for freight.
“The process of programming flights is subject to several factors, the most important are the economic and social factors and the availability of transport means. Air Algérie seeks to reconcile these factors as much as possible, especially by strengthening its air cargo fleet with new planes, in order to improve flight programs and open new lines to other airports.”
