Algerian League For The Human Rights Defense: Europe Created A Refugee Crisis To Implicate Algeria
Algerian League for the Human Rights’ Defense accused the West of fueling the refugee crisis in the world and of forcing third world countries, including Algeria, to face the crisis alone, meanwhile the UN reports revealed that the number of refugees in the world rose for the first time to reach 68.5 million people who displaced as a result of wars and crises.
On the International Refugees Day, the ALHRD blamed the European countries, especially France, the United States and NATO, of the increasing number of refugees and displaced people in the world.
The league considered that the increasing crises in the world as a result of wars and intervention of major countries in states’ internal affairs contributed to the increase in the number of refugees and their suffering.
“The neighboring countries bear a great burden, including Algeria on behalf of the major powers. This is despite the global focus on the fact that the crisis of immigrants is concentrated in Europe and not in the poor countries that bear the brunt of the refugee crisis”.
ALHRD statement, that was signed by the General Secretary, Houari Keddour, said: “Around 84% of the refugees in third world countries live with low and medium income.”
“The Algerian League for the Defense of Human Rights expressed its concern about the inhumane and ill-treatment of refugees and immigrants who arrived in the European territories, considering that the European reality proves a great difference between speech and practice”.
“The European Union’s policy indicates that some officials are living in a crisis of conscience and an absence of humanity. European Union’s reputation for refugees’ human rights is stark and a disgrace to the treatment of migrants as an epidemic.”
“The policy of the European Union indicates that some officials are living in a crisis of conscience and an absence of humanity, and the evidence is the incident of the ship Aquarius  Which saved an average of 630 illegal immigrants on last Sunday, because of which a war of words was waged between the EU member states after Italy and Malta sealed off their ports, and Rome refused to receive refugees who were stranded for more than a week on board the aid ship Aquarius.”
The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) said Tuesday that the number of refugees and displaced persons worldwide rose to 5.68 million last year, marking a new rise for the fifth year in a row by 6.4% in 2017 compared to last year.
The UNHCR has said that the number of refugees has increased significantly, compared with a slight drop in the number of displaced persons, according to an annual report, which means that one of the 110 people in the world is displaced, according to UNHCR.
Amnesty International announced the launch of an innovative online training session focusing on the rights of refugees worldwide to celebrate the World Refugee Day in an effort to remove obstacles and urged countries to take action.
