Algerian Popular Protests To Be Discussed At The European Parliament Next Week

The European Parliament in Strasbourg will open debate next week on the political situation in Algeria.

A French member of the European Parliament, Raphael Glucksmann, denounced, in a tweet, the silence of the European Parliament for the idealism that characterized the Algerian Popular Protests.

“I salute the exemplary Algerian Hirak, which is peacefull and will inevitably change the Mediterranean region”, he said in his report to the EU.

“There will be a debate on Algeria and an emergency resolution next week in Strasbourg”, he said in his tweet.

The French MEP spoke about millions of Algerians who are taking to the streets for democracy, justice, and freedom.

According to Raphael Gluksmann, MEPs see Algeria as a stabilizing pole in the region and one of the most important energy partners in European countries.
