Algiers Conference Calls For Unifying Islamic Education In Islamic Countries

The participants in the international conference on “the teaching of Islamic education in public institutions” wound up Tuesday in Algiers by urging religious scholars and officials of academic research centers to revive the religious discourse.
The final declaration of this two-day conference included a number of recommendations adopted by the delegates “urging scientists and academic research center leaders to work toward the renewal of religious discourse and its cleansing of blunders and mistakes”.
In this regard, they called for “the wrenching of the fatwas or religious decrees from the hands of the imperialist laboratories and the pseudo foukaha”.
“Thanks to the wisdom of its judicious leadership and its successful national reconciliation policy, Algeria has been able to overcome the scourge of terrorism and to heal the wounds of the Algerian people who have shown that Islam is stronger than terrorism,” they underscored.
At the end of the timely conference, the Higher Islamic Council honored the President of the Republic, Mr. Abdelaziz Bouteflika.
