Anti-Islam Rhetoric Reaches Its Extent In France

The anti-Islam statements of the French President, Emmanuel Macron, opened a large way for bidders from the French extreme right, to further attack Islam and demean the Muslim communities in France, including the Algerian community that is considered the largest in this country.

The last attack by a French MP (a member of the lower house of parliament), Jean Hossam Messiha, a leader in the National Front party, led by the extremist Marine Le Pen, and he placed the entire Muslim community in one place, in an unjustified generalization that reflects racism, anti-Islam and anti-Muslim attitude.

This person who came as a refugee from Egypt, and suddenly found himself among the corridors of the French National Assembly, said what his leader did not say: “The terms that we introduced to describe Islam and Muslims were deceptive terms to describe reality. Thus came the terms of jihadist Islam and Islamic terrorism to create a kind of rupture between Islam and Muslims and the deviants. I can no longer accept this semantic hypocrisy. Those who cursed, assaulted, or killed with Kalashnikovs or knives or slaughtered or beheaded in the name of Allah or revenge for the Prophet are Muslims and their religion is Islam”.

Le Pen’s MP did not stop at humiliating Muslims and calling them with all the epithets. Rather, his hatred even reached Islam as a religion, which is supposed to be the subject of legal follow-up: “In many countries of Islam blasphemy is punished by death, which is not found in any Christian, Hindu, or Buddhist country. As in Israel.” Through this passage, it becomes clear that the problem of this representative is not with some of the deviant members of the Muslim community, but with Islam as an identity and religion, which exposes his true goals, agenda and party known to Algerians and the whole world.

The problem is not the responsibility of this MP, obscure and driven by his racist surroundings, with political and electoral calculations, but it lies with the French President, Emmanuel Macron, who got into a dirty game, by employing the far-right speech, in a race with the current, when he said a few days ago that ” Islam is experiencing a crisis”, and the French hostage, Sophie Pétronin, who was just released from Mali in exchange for a ransom, responded to him at the time a few days after that statement. She addressed him at the airport while he was greeting her, by the Islam salutation “Salam Alaikum”, so he was forced to cancel the press conference that he prepared for the event.

Whatever the crime committed by that Chechen boy, who did not accept the provocation of the history professor while raising the cartoon of the Holy Prophet, Muhammad, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, before the kids, but that action cannot in any way be a justification for such brutal and racist statements against the Muslim community, which has great merit over the French in building their country for more than a century.

Political rhetoric in France has slipped into the gutter, and the reason for this is due to Macron’s willingness to accept the ideas of his advisor for identity affairs, the former president Nicolas Sarkozy, and thus he has placed himself in a narrow circle from which he can’t get out.
