Two chieftains of the so-called “Djound El Khalifa” terrorist group linked to the “Daesh” terrorist organization were eliminated Thursday in eastern Algeria by a detachment of the National People’s Army, the National Defense Ministry said in a statement.

The statement said that the two dangerous terrorists "were shot dead in an ambush" during a large-scale anti-terrorist operation conducted in the dense forests in Skikda province, 350km east of Algiers.

One of the two eliminated terrorists was identified as “Abu Dujana”, a chieftain who swore allegiance to the nefarious “Daesh” terrorist group operating in eastern Algeria, the same source said.

The troops of the National People’s Army (ANP) retrieved two Kalashnikov machine guns, binoculars, grenades, a quantity of ammunition and nine mobile phones.

The counter-terrorism operation is still underway, said the MDN statement, adding that it "confirms the staunch determination of the valiant National People’s Army to maintain security and foster serenity throughout the national territory".

Algerian army forces have killed more than 100 armed terrorists in different combing operations in various parts of the country in the past six months.
