The Wali or Governor of the Tunisian province of Tozeur said, in an exclusive interview with “Echorouk” on Tuesday, that the consultations between the Governors of Tunisia and their Algerian counterparts would resume soon in order to ensure greater security coordination and to proceed with the establishment of free trade activities between the two brotherly countries.

The Tunisian official, affirmed on the sidelines of an International Forum, organized in the Tunisian city of Tozeur, that the local diplomatic cooperation between the Governors of El Tarf, Souk Ahras, Tebessa and El Oued on the Algerian side, and the Governors of Jendouba, Kef, Kasserine, Gafsa, and Tozeur in  Tunisia, would resume  shortly, adding that this joint endeavor stems from the important results of last week’s official visit paid by Tunisian Prime Minister Youcef Chahed to Algeria.

This joint endeavor, he said, will be marked by the exchange of visits between the Governors of the two countries, and will pave the way for the spurring of free trade activities between the two countries.

He argued to this effect that this closer bilateral cooperation would help reign in smugglers on both sides, and this point, he added, is among the priorities of the economic program of the Tunisian Prime Minister Youcef Chahed as demonstrated during the latter’s presentation of the program of his government before the Tunisian House of Representatives.

The administrative, legal and diplomatic procedures in this regard, will be completed soon, at the close of talks for sealing this joint endeavor between the relevant authorities of Algeria and Tunisia, he underscored.
