French Olympic Marseille’s player Zineddine Mechache accepted to play for Algeria but he did not say when he would announce it officially, Echorouk has learnt.

It is likely that an official announcement would be made after the African Cup of Nations 2017. Mechache would not be part of the team to play the games. French Bordeaux club’s player Adam Ounas experienced the same situation after he had officially joined the Algerian national team in October.

Mechache agreed to play as the president of the Algerian Football Federation Mohamed Raouraoua contacted his family living in Marseilles.

According to the same sources, Mechache’s family encouraged him to choose Algeria rather than Morocco as his father is Moroccan. He also can play for France because he was born there.

The family asked for more time so that Zineddine would focus on his professional career and gain a principal position in his team.

Raouraoua did not want to put pressure on the play and decided to give him enough time to announce his decision.
