A court in Skikda Sunday sentenced Al Ahmaddiyya followers to 1-12 months in prison. This comes as they were arrested in a villa performing Fridays’ Prayer, two months ago, Echorouk has learnt.

The court sentenced the “group’s Guide” to a year in prison and 100,000 DZ fine. Two of his assistants: the group’s ambassador and an accountant were sentenced to 8 months in prison suspended and 50,000 DZ fine. A total of 18 other followers were sentenced to six months in prison suspended and 50,000 DZ fine. Two others were sentenced to a month in prison suspended and 20,000 DZ.

According to the same sources, Al Ahmaddiyya Sheikh in Skikda still defends this sect and its followers. He holds periodic meetings with his followers. He calls on them to be patient and follow the companions of the Prophet Mohamed (Peace Be Upon Him).
