The Minister of Maghreb affairs, African Union and the Arab League, Abdelkader Messahel, said Thursday that during his tour of several Libyan regions, he was carrying a "message of hope" stemming from Algeria's bitter experience against terrorism, stressing that « we don’t want this heinous scourge to be repeated in a brotherly country like Libya », as he put it.

Mr Messahel made the statement during a speech to the elders and local officials of the Zintan region that he is currently visiting along with several other cities and regions in Libya, underscoring that he was « carrying a message of hope  and fraternity from the Algerian people and from your brother President Abdelaziz Bouteflika to all Libyans».

« I would like to thank you for your warm hospitality and we are proud to have among our brothers in Zintan, dignitaries, officials and mujahideen of this precious country whose blood was mixed with the blood of the Algerians during the liberation struggle against French colonialism », he stated.

The Minister further underlined that there is no genuine solution to any crisis whatsoever, without a frank and sincere dialogue between the Libyans themselves, while expressing confidence that the Libyans can close the page of violence, adding that "there are women and men in Libya quite able to rebuild this nation through the fostering of a dialogue and political solutions in the framework of national reconciliation involving  all segments of the Libyan people without exclusion or marginalization".

Mr Abdelkader Messahel added, to this effect, that the spirit of dialogue must be fostered inside Libya itself and not outside the country, stressing that the Libyans themselves alone can shape the future of their own country.
