Algeria Summons Morocco Ambassador

Moroccan ambassador to Algeria, Hassan Abdel Khalik, was summoned on Saturday by the Minister of Maghreb Affairs, the African Union and the Arab League, Abdelkader Messahel, a statement of the Foreign Affairs Ministry, said.

Messahel told the Moroccan ambassador that Algeria protests against the harassment that the Algerian young delegation faced during its participation in the symposium which was organized by the United Nations Decolonization Committee, or the so-called Group of 24 in Saint Vincent and Grenadines, from 16 to 18 May, 2017 ".

Same statement said: "These provocations against Algerian diplomacy reached the point of guaranteeing close protection to them by the authorities of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines".

Sellal also highlighted the unacceptable nature of such behavior, contrary to the minimum rules of conduct and the morality of diplomatic conduct and customs.

He explained that the information that is held by the Algerian party regarding this "unfortunate incident", and which can be confirmed by the organizers of this meeting and the participants, proves the "actions of the members of the Moroccan delegation", and that the details of these facts were reported to the Secretary-General of the United Nations. 

"In this context, Morocco ambassador was told that Algeria is waiting for apologies from Morocco".

The Chargé d'Affaires of the Embassy of Algeria in Rabat was received on Friday by the Moroccan Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Minister, Nacer Bourita.
