Sahrawi foreign minister Mohamed Salem Ould Salek Monday said the results of the African Union’s 29th Summit is a slap in the face for Morocco. This comes as Rabat tried to influence the Union’s position towards Sahrawi people’s right in self-determination.

Mohamed Ould Salem Ould Salek told a news conference that he was satisfied about the African Union’s resolutions during the last Summit held in Addis Ababa.

“Although the Moroccan delegation tried to influence African nations’ position towards the conflict between the Sahrawi Republic and the Moroccan Kingdom,” he added.

He also said Morocco gives fake figures as it said it is supported by 39 nations against the Western Sahara issue. It also alleged that 28 nations supports it for kicking out the Sahrawi Republic.

“Now, Morocco just published a list of 18 nations which showed reserves about the African Union’s resolutions,” he added.

The Sahrawi official criticized Morocco for stealing the natural resources of his country.

“The Mohamed Sixth regime experiences an economic crisis due to debts. Many world companies and bank withdrew their projects from the Sahrawi people’s lands,” he said.
