742 crimes committed on Facebook in Algeria

Counter-cyber criminality forces reported 742 crimes perpetrated in January-June. A total of 720 persons including 30 minors were involved. They used social media to blackmail, threaten executives and hit their private life.

According to a release issued by National Police Department, counter cybercriminality forces enabled to handle cases in relation to defamation, fake data and cheating.

It said the National Police Department scheduled training courses about prevention against cyber criminality. This is part of the National Police Chief Abdelghani Hamel’s endeavours to enable investigators knowledgeable about high technologies.

The release added that security forces make considerable efforts to raise awareness about those crimes, eliminate risks and protect people from cyber criminality.
