The Cameroonian Football Federation showed anger about remarks made by the president of the Confederation of African Football Ahmad Ahmad, a few days ago in Burkina Faso.

Ahmad said Cameroon is not ready to host the finals of the African Cup of Nations 2019.

Local media Tuesday quoted a release issued by the Cameroon Football Federation, saying “the remarks of the president of Confederation of African Football came a few days before the first inspection tour to sports facilities. The visit is supposed to start on August 20th and finish on August 28th.”

On his visit to Burkina Faso, Ahmad told journalists “Cameroon is not ready to organize the continental event. This comes as the number of participant teams is raised to 24 from 16. There should be 4 to 6 stadiums to host to the championship.”

“It is not about a political position. Yet, it is seen that Cameroon is not ready to organize the African Cup of Nations 2019 even if the number of participant teams is 4 only,” he added.

He also said six nations want to host the event if Cameroon is not capable of doing it.

Earlier last month, the executive committee of the Confederation of African Football announced that a final decision about the issue will be made in September.
