Algeria is facing a special phase that is dictated by the security risks in the country, Interior and Local Communities Minister, Noureddine Badaoui, said in statements on the terrorist attack against the security headquarters of the state of Tiaret, western Algeria, which left the death of two cops.

"All Algerians must be on a high level of vigilance and caution, and should help the various security services in their missions, in order to maintain the security and stability of Algeria", Badaoui told reporters on Saturday, on the sidelines of his participation in the Orphans' Reception Centers in Algiers El Mohamedia, celebrating the Eid al-Adha holiday in Algiers.

"We are facing a special stage that is fraught with security risks", he told APS.

Badaoui is certainly referring to the "deteriorating" security situation for years on the Algeria-Libya and Algeria-Mali borders.

Interior Minister, who was accompanied by the Minister of National Solidarity, the Family and Women's Issues, and Algiers governor, Abdelkader Zoukh, did not miss the opportunity to pay tribute to the efforts of various security lines and members of the National People's Army that are stationed at the border to maintain stability and security of Algeria.

Tiaret province (western Algeria) was hit by a terrorist attack on Thursday morning, against the provincial security headquarters , where a terrorist, who was carrying a firearm and an explosive belt, was brutally confronted by police officers who prevented him from entering the headquarters.

The terrorist blew himself up, killing two cops, Alouaoui Said and al-Tayeb Issaoui, and wounding others.

Officers of the municipality of Nador in the district of Mahdiya, Tiaret, attended the funerals with the Interior Minister, the General Director of the National Security, the General Director of Civil Protection, the local authorities and the crowds of citizens who attended the ceremony.

Interior Minister said; "The state is determined to eliminate the scourge of extraneous terrorism and urged to promote the civil and political sense and to ensure that the first and sole objective is security and stability, as a prerequisite for development and the embodiment of programs".

General Director of National Security, the Major General, Abdelghani Hamel, praised the heroic action of the two martyrs who were killed in the terrorist attack against Tiaret security headquarters (western Algeria).

"This attack does not surprise the national security forces, but rather increases their will to confront anyone who tries to destabilize the country", he added, noting that it was not the first time that the national security forces had dealt with a similar attack.

"This terrorist attack is a well known scenario of police training, especially in the fight against terrorism".
