A total of 1,140 Niger nationals were repatriated on Monday to their country of origin from southern the reception center in Tamanrasset as part of an operation organized by the Algerian authorities following a request made by the Nigerian government, according to the APS.

These Niger nationals were first taken from Annaba, El Oued, Ghardaia, Biskra and Laghouat to the reception center of Tamanrasset for repatriation to their own country, added the same source who quoted to this effect Mr. Moulaï Cheikh, head of the Algerian Red Crescent.

The repatriated Niger nationals have been accompanied by civil protection teams, representatives of the national solidarity sector and the security services, said the APS, which also stated that a proper health coverage has been provided to these African nationals until their smooth arrival in Agadès, northern Niger.

More than 28,000 foreign nationals have been repatriated since December 2014 from the Tamanrasset reception center, according to the representative of the Algerian Red Crescent.

The operation of repatriation of Niger nationals is continuing "in good conditions," he further underlined.
