On Wednesday evening, the Public Prosecutor of Algiers Dar Bida Criminal Court requested the imposition of a sentence of 20 years imprisonment against members of a criminal cell operating in the field of importing drugs from Morocco, by swallowing them to settle in the intestines, provided that they are extracted immediately after they arrive in Algeria.

The members of the gang, consisting of 11 individuals, including an employee of Air Algérie company and an agent of the Moroccan Royal Guard, who is the main supplier of the cell, are recruiting tens of jobless youth and exploiting their conditions to travel to the Kingdom of Morocco in exchange for paying the costs, as appointments are set with Moroccan barons to receive drugs according to the deals concluded between them, then swallowing them after preparing them in the form of capsules and quickly returning to Algeria via the international airport Houari Boumediene in Algiers to extract them while meeting their biological needs, and re-integrating the contents of the capsules with other materials for sale among addicts in various popular neighbourhoods.

Police services competent in the fight against drugs were able to dismantle the cell’s threads and arrest nine of its members while others are still on the run, based on information they have learned regarding the suspicious activity of the owner of the tobacco shop in the promotion of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances, and within the framework of the investigation conducted by the police, a person called “L. Nabil” booked a one-way ticket to the Kingdom of Morocco and was arrested in a car on the outskirts of the capital.

Cops arrested the defendants, respectively, and transferred them to security and then judicial questioning before their trial for the felony of importing drugs and storing them in the framework of an organized criminal group.

The defendants ’statements were contradictory during the session, while the main accused retracted his previous confessions, and stated that the calls that the police recovered and exchanging messages through the Messenger application with some of the defendants were in the context of commercial dealings between them to sell clothes and sports shoes.
