The European Union is bracing to exclude Algeria from the list of “safe countries” from the new Corona virus, which allows unnecessary travel, according to Reuters news agency.
The decision was taken on Wednesday after a meeting of ambassadors of the European Union, and this means that Algeria is no longer in the eyes of the European Union among the list of countries that have been able to control the emerging Corona virus (Covid 19).
If this decision is confirmed in writing, the list of countries where the pandemic associated with the new Corona virus is considered to be controlled will be reduced to only 11 countries. Algeria is the only country in the Maghreb, which is concerned by this decision, if we exclude the eastern and western neighbors.
Tunisia is the only Maghreb country that has declared control of the viral pandemic, which would prompt the question about the exclusion of neighboring countries from this decision.
China is also temporarily included in this list, but its presence will only be confirmed if it itself allows the arrival of travelers from European Union countries.
It is not expected to amend this list in the month of August, which is the month in which European institutions usually stopover in Brussels in general.
However, countries can be removed from the list if the sudden situation on their lands worsens, according to the same source, and this list was presented only as an indicator and it is not binding on the 27 European Union countries, while some of the countries of the Union, especially those in the south of the old continent, seek to save their tourist season, which has become threatened by the viral pandemic.
It should be noted that some EU member states, such as Italy and Belgium, decided not to open their borders to any tourist hailing from a country outside the European Union.
