Chenine: “The European Parliament’s Resolution On Algeria Provokes Algerians”

The Chairman of the National People’s Assembly (APN) Suleimane Chenine on Thursday firmly denounced the European Parliament’s resolution on Algeria, dubbing it as a “gross interference in Algeria’s internal affairs and a wanton provocation to the Algerian people”.
“The National People’s Assembly deplores what happened today in Strasbourg as a blatant interference in Algeria’s domestic affairs and an unacceptable provocation to the Algerian people, stressing that we categorically reject any interference by anybody in the internal affairs of our country,” Mr. Chenine said in a statement.
The APN Chairman explained that “Algeria respects all international conventions and abides by them and rejects all the lies and slanders attributed to Algerian laws, especially with regard to the subject of freedoms in Algeria, including the freedom of peaceful demonstration, freedom of opinion, freedom of information and religious freedoms which are all guaranteed by the country’s laws and regulations,” as he put it.
