Chenine: “The New Algeria Project Won’t Satisfy The Colonial Lobby”

The Chairman of the National People’s Assembly (APN), Slimane Chenine, said Tuesday that the era of the new Algeria “requires us all to work in synergy and complementarity in accordance with the requirements of national interest and institutional stability”.

In his speech on the occasion of the presentation of the Government’s Action Plan by the Prime Minister, Mr. Chenine stressed that “the era of the new Algeria requires us all to work within the framework of synergy, complementarity, cooperation and consultation, without obscuring the realities on the ground and the current political configuration, but reacting with them positively in accordance with the requirements of national interest and institutional stability”.

In this connection, he called for “a break with old and obsolete practices, which have hampered efforts, undermined the will and delayed genuine initiatives for development and serious progress”.

Stressing that today’s era is one of clarity and transparency in the management, distribution and management of public affairs, keeping the people informed of the realities, capacities and means available, far from populism, Mr. Chenine stressed the importance of investing in human resources as “the foundation of any solid and sustainable building process”, to enable, he said, “the new Republic to mobilize all energies and potentialities to achieve a true renaissance.

For Mr. Chenine, the Government’s Action Plan “broadly reflects the priorities demanded by the people, first and foremost the renewal of the mode of governance based on transparency and moralization of public life, the restoration of citizen confidence in its institutions and the autonomy of the judiciary, in addition to the financial and economic reforms necessary for the creation of wealth and not the depletion of the public treasury”.

The Chairman of the APN considered that the process of national dialogue advocated by the President of the Republic, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune, constitutes “the basis of good governance”, calling on “everyone to adhere to this approach in order to bring together views and visions on issues related to the country and its future”.

“The homeland belongs to everyone. The homeland is built by all and its problems are borne by all its components in a state where supremacy is to the law and justice. A state where morality and virtue reign, the attachment to the preservation of the foundations of the nation and its civilizational dimensions, and the  enshrinement of the factors of unity and cohesion within the social fabric of Algeria, strong of its diversity and its wealth,” Mr. Chenine said.

He considered that the completion of the achievement  of the people’s demands was the focus of the program of the President of the Republic, which aims at launching an inclusive national dialogue, which does not exclude any party, and whose consensual conclusions are reflected in constitutional, legal and economic reforms.

Affirming that Algeria’s problem is the  implementation on the ground, the relevant choice of human resources and the ability to make competence prevail over allegiance and conviction over outbidding and slogans, he added that “this is a major review during which we, for our part, will ensure that we provide all our assistance for the success of the government’s approach”.

At the international level, the APN Chairman reiterated “his support for the President’s approach aimed at ensuring a strong return of Algeria in international fora, as an active player on the world stage, and particularly on the regional stage.

“Algeria’s voice will be heard because it is based on the norms of law, the rule of law, good neighborliness and international charters and advocates the easing of tensions through constructive and responsible dialogue between conflicting parties for the reconstruction of societies on the basis of the choices of their peoples and the fulfillment of their supreme interests,” he added.

“This is the path taken in the initiative to bring the brothers in Libya together and it is also the path that has been the basis of the reconciliation process among the brothers in Mali. It is also the fulcrum of our approach in dealing with the Sahel file based on the priority of the countries concerned to take charge of the restoration of security and peace, with the support of the international community,”  added Mr Chenine.

With regard to the Palestinian issue, Mr. Chenine reiterated “Algeria’s constant position with regard to this just cause, its commitment to the rights of the Palestinian people and its right to recover its rights by all means, in accordance with the objectives and principles of the United Nations Charter, considering that what has been called as the +Deal of the Century+ “cannot be an initiative for a solution but practices aimed at conferring legitimacy on the Zionist occupation and its expansion to the detriment of all international decisions”.
