Algeria is surprised by its exclusion from the latest updated list of countries whose citizens are allowed to enter the European Union, noting that it has kept its borders closed to protect its citizens from the imported Covid19 pandemic, the Foreign Ministry said on Sunday.

“The procedure does not have any practical effect, given that Algeria has previously decided to keep its borders closed, in the context of its strict adherence to the principle of protecting its citizens from imported Covid19 that was behind the beginning of the virus spread in Algeria”, the Algerian Foreign Ministry published on its website.

In its Foreign Ministry’s statement, Algeria reviewed “the huge means and tremendous efforts made by the state, which are unparalleled at the level of many countries, where more dangerous situations are recorded, with at least twice the number of cases recorded in Algeria”.

According to the same source, “the efforts made by the Algerian state enabled the attainment of a high level of mobilization and effectiveness in facing the Covid19 pandemic, especially through nearly forty diagnostic centres distributed across the entire national territory and thousands of “PCR” tests that are conducted daily in the country.
