Customs Seize Goods That Are Imported From Israel In Oran
Statistics that were recorded by the departments of Oran Customs’ Directorate (western Algeria), during the field visit to several points that belong to the same services, including dry ports, the mobile division and the regional directorate of customs as well, regarding the outcome of the sporadic activities of periodic and continuous monitoring of all goods that arrived via air, land and sea, either by travellers or importers, show the seizing of various goods, some of which are prohibited, and the other is imitated, along with goods whose owners tried to introduce with false licenses.
Among the striking operations, there was the import of bags for local Israeli-made marketing and that carry writings in the Hebrew language, valued at one million Algerian dinars, while five containers of used spare parts that were imported from Spain were seized, and the owner presented a false declaration, related to his import of plastic and animal products, while its financial value was estimated at more than DZD 55 million.
In the context of combating counterfeit goods, clothes and counterfeit shoes of international brands that were imported from China, with an estimated value of more than DZD 15 million, have been seized.
The importer was fined twice the authorized and estimated value of DZD 30 million, according to the provisions of the law, according to what was stated by Mohamed Ben Ramadan, a financial commissioner and control officer at the level of the holding.
As for the total fines that were applied to goods in the dry port, they amounted to DZD 460 million, according to what the sub-director of Information and Communication of Oran Regional Directorate of Customs, Zaoui Ibrahim said.
At Oran Ahmed Ben Balla Airport, customs seized weapons bearing a permit to enter the national territory and awaiting completion of legal procedures, along with prohibited electronic equipment, including binoculars and drones that are used in photography and used clothes or what is known as second-hand, where tons of them have been seized. As these goods are destroyed by burning such as spare parts, clothes and counterfeit brands.
