EU: Algerians To Pay 1.5 Million Centimes (DA) For Schengen Visa

The European Union has instructed 26 European countries belonging to the “Schengen” space, to implement the decision of the amendments, which came after the approval of the Council of the European Union, the need to apply an increase in visa fees to Europe by an estimated 33 percent, starting January 1st 2020, which means that the Algerians will pay 80 Euros, roughly equivalent to almost 15,000 dinars for a “Schengen” visa, without counting the costs of processing files.
After the EU approved the hikes proposed for a Schengen visa last June, all 26 EU member states will have to apply the procedure starting from next January 2nd .

According to the decision of the Union, the hike is estimated at 33.3 percent, thus raising the costs of obtaining a Schengen visa from 60 euros to 80 euros, without calculating the processing costs of the files.

The amendments also provide for the application for visa for a maximum period of 6 months, before the date of Travel at least 15 days, while previously the maximum duration granted was 3 months.

The new measure will include Algerians who will pay roughly 15,000 dinars during the payment of the Schengen visa file, with the costs of processing files for example to enter France and if the request is rejected, the amount will naturally enter the treasury of the French state, especially as the proceeds of the European Union in Algeria revealed that between January and July 31 of this year, the bill that Algerians paid for a unified visa to enter European Schengen territory exceeded 100 billion centimes, while visa denials rose during the first six months of this year, compared to the same period in 2018, to up 28 percent.

According to the same source, the average number of Algerian visa applications for Schengen countries reached 4,000 during the same period during the first six months of this year, and France tops the list of the countries that most apply for visas. France’s visa centers “in Algiers, Annaba and Oran” receive daily more than 1,500 applications, increasing in some periods to 1,700 applications a day, followed by Spain, Belgium and England.
