As soon as the Aigle Azur officially announced the suspension of all flights in the world, including flights from Algeria to France due to financial difficulties, the voices of economic experts in Algeria call on the Algerian government to take advantage of the opportunity to acquire Aigle Azur’s aircraft for Air Algérie fleet, because it was taking possession of air transport between the two countries.
In the context of the Algerian MP representing the Algerian community in Paris, Samir Chaabna, said in his Facebook account, that the Algerian government should take advantage of the opportunity and buy the bankrupt company’s aircraft in order to create a new airline.
For his part, the economist, Kamal Rezzig, said in a statement to Echorouk on Saturday, that the bankruptcy of Aigle Azure, as a French is harmful to the French economy alone and not to Algeria, while this will affect the movement of passengers between France and Algeria and vice versa, because the French airline acquired 60% of the flights considering it the number one competitor of Air Algérie.
“Air Algérie could take advantage of this bankruptcy to regain the market which robbed its customers. The Algerian government has to seize the opportunity by buying the bankrupt company’s fleet and strengthening Air Algérie with two different companies”.
Regarding the financial difficulties that are experienced by Air Algérie for years, which may not enable it to buy Aigle Azur’s aircraft, the economist asserted that the Air Algérie has always been in crisis and survived by the support of the government, adding that it can take advantage of the opportunity to get rid of the surplus labor burden by using them to work in the new company if Aigle Azur’s aircraft are purchased.
Other experts fear that Air Algerie is currently unable to afford the financial means due to its difficult financial situation to acquire the bankrupt Aigle Azur’s fleet, explaining that such a step would require financial capabilities and loans from banks, which could not dispose of loans with the current situation of the country and the economic repercussions it had.
