FLN Party: Djamel Ould Abbas’s Mistakes Put His Future To The Test

The contradictions within the country’s first political force namely the FLN Party are converging on one demand: to call for the overthrow of the current Secretary-General of the National Liberation Front Party, Djamel Ould Abbas, whose recent slips and mistakes seem to have abounded, making it now difficult for his advocates to make him stay at the helm of the party.
In a striking move, the former party secretary-general, Abdelaziz Belkhadem, returned to the political arena by bitterly criticizing the recent speech of Djamel Ould Abbas and his way of running the party’s long-term lead.
Djamel Ould Abbas’s opponents have thus begun to collect signatures to unseat him by taking advantage of the gross mistakes and blunders made by him during recent remarks made to the press.
It is known that the FLN Central Committee was supposed to convene no later than October 22, 2017, according to the legal system of the party, but Djamel Ould Abbas deliberately postponed and stalled for fear of his future, and thereby pressed for the continued functioning of the party’s institutions, led by the Central Committee despite creeping pressure from some disgruntled party figureheads.
In light of the mounting pressure on Ould Abbas, the latter set a preliminary date for the program for the second half of next June in a bid to stall for more time and thus to extend willy-nilly his position at the helm of the party.
