Football: Yacine Brahimi Dubs Referee As “Crazy” And May Face Sanction

Algerian international football player Yacine Brahimi made a non-sporting move towards the referee of the fixture between FC Porto and guest Vitoria Guimaraes on Sunday night.

FC Porto beat visiting Vitoria Guimaraes club, by four goals to two as part of the 17th and final round of the Portuguese first-league championship.

Yacine Brahimi scored the second goal for his team and FC Porto thus  ended up first in the overall standings and snatched the honorary winter championship title.

Midfielder Yacine Brahimi put his right hand on his head and addressed the international Portuguese referee of the fixture, Artur Suarez, as if the Algerian international were saying to him: “Are you crazy ?!” As shown above.

The incident happened at the end of the first half, when everyone was quitting the pitch heading for the dressing rooms. FC Porto were down (0-1) at the end of the first 45 minutes of the game.

According to Portuguese press reports on Monday, Brahimi protested against the “wrong” decisions taken by the referee, adding that FC Porto fans fired violent boos at the end of the first half, against the referee Artur Suarez.

The specter of punishment is now hovering over Yacine Brahimi because of this non-sporting move pending the decision of the disciplinary committee of the Portuguese Football Federation expected later this week.

As a recall, the disciplinary committee of the Portuguese Football Federation punished midfielder Brahimi last April for misbehavior, by suspending him for two straight fixtures.
