France: Algerian Young Man, Hailing From Khenchela Province, Murdered In Marseille

A young Algerian man was shot dead on Wednesday evening during an assassination attempt by unknown assailants at the level of a garage in Bastille, in Saint Louis district, 15 km south of Marseille (France).

After being fatally shot by bullets in the head, the victim was left immersed in a pool of blood.

The body of the victim was transferred to a hospital in Marseille, while the police began investigations into the murder, notably by ringing off all the entrances and exits of the province 15 in Marseille city, in search for the vile perpetrators.

Sources on the spot told “Echorouk”, that the victim named Yacine Saoudi, a 25-years-old, hailed from the city of Khenchela (eastern Algeria).

He was single working as a car dealer, in Marseille region, after the transfer of his family members legally several years ago to France.

He used to travel back to Algeria, specifically by revisiting his hometown of Aymen, during every summer holidays.

While in Algeria, he preferred to spend most of his holidays in the Aurès Mountains and in the forests of Ben Melloul, our sources added.

He was mown down on Wednesday night as he was entering his garage in the district of Saint Louis to park his car, by a hail of bullets fired by unknown gunmen who fled swiftly after committing their horrendous murder.

France witnessed the heinous assassination of 18 Algerian nationals in 2018, 13 of whom hailed from Khenchela province.

The first murder case was on 18 December, following the cowardly assassination of 18-year-old Lyès Adjali.

After thorough inquiries, the French police services arrested two French men two weeks ago suspected of being involved in the assassinations of youngster Naim Fattimi and of an elderly Algerian man hailing from Annaba who was also unfortunately shot dead in mid 2018.
