Industry Minister Djamila Tamazirt on Monday blew up a high-caliber case after announcing that there was no mobile phone installation in Algeria, as she put it.

On the sidelines of a field visit to Tizi-Ouzou province in eastern Algeria, the minister stressed that the committee, which is endeavoring to verify the integration of this activity, concluded that there has been no integration in this area during these recent years because there is no installation, albeit the import of ready-made mobile phones.

The industry Minister further explained that her ministerial department decided to delete the tax privileges for the owners of this activity because, she said, “these dealers cannot claim the privileges of the installation activity, but they can pursue such an activity in the mobile phone industry within the framework of marketing, but within a proportion in the general law and not within a preferential rate”.
