Maj. Gen. Said Chengriha, Acting Chief of Staff of the National People’s Army, affirmed that he, like his late predecessor, Gaid Salah, pledged “not to spill a single drop of Algerians’ blood, whatever the circumstances”.
The “daily order” that was addressed to officers and soldiers came from the Major General Changriha, and was published by the Army Magazine: “On my part, I pledge, like the late Major General, Deputy Minister of National Defense, Chief of Staff of the National People’s Army, not to spill a single drop of Algerians’ blood whatever the circumstances”.
“Because above all we are descended from this people, and we will forever remain a patriotic and republican army serving the nation only”, he said.
Major-General Chengriha added
that “the Hirak that, thanks to the accompaniment of the National People’s Army, allowed the fulfillment of the legitimate demands that were expressed by citizens during peaceful marches, was the platform that strengthened the relationship between the Army and the people, which must be strengthened more to deter the hostile parties, especially the separatists who work for Algeria’s past enemy”.
