Process of working with the automated register of the civil situation for citizens who are born abroad was officially launched on Wednesday in the municipality of Algiers, under the supervision of the Foreign Minister, Abdelkader Messahel, and the Interior and Local Communities and Urban Planning Minister, Noureddine Badoui.

Members of the Algerian community abroad will be able to extract administrative documents and civil status documents without bureaucratic obstacles and through the unified computerized register, where they can apply for birth, marriage and death certificates that are recorded directly in the Algerian diplomatic and consular missions abroad at the municipal level.

The electronic platform for the application of certificates of competence for the driving license for citizens who are living abroad was launched as well.

This procedure allows the processing of the application files for the certificate of competency that is necessary for the conversion of the Algerian driving license to a foreign driving licence directly through the Internet, at the level of the province for issuing the driving license, after processing of the application and delivery of the certificate in real time from the issuance of the document in the same province until the receipt at the consulate, while reducing the waiting times of delivery from several months in the past to three days.

Abdelkader Messahel said that this process is another achievement that falls within the framework of the government’s work that is stemming from the President’s program to streamline and modernize the administrative procedures of citizens inside and outside the country.

“The continuous coordination between the various ministerial sectors has enabled the close completion of providing citizens abroad with Biometric passports”.

“90% of them benefited from biometric passports and only people who delayed to apply remain without passports”.

“Members of the community can benefit from the possibility of obtaining certificates of nationality and judicial records document electronically, correcting administrative errors via internet, in addition to extracting civil status documents from the nearest consulate or embassy, starting from today, from their province of residence without going to the Foreign Ministry”.

For his part, Interior Minister, Noureddine Badoui, said that these facilities are a new procedure that are added to others that are developed for the benefit of members of the community abroad, and will allow the access to a high-quality public service in which human intervention has been minimized which will allow the transparency on the administrative transactions and surrounded by all indicators of effectiveness in order to satisfy citizens who are residing inside or outside the country.

“The electronic platform to request certificates of competence for driving license for citizens who are living abroad will work 24 hours, considering that the improvement of administrative services is a stage that must pass to access the modern electronic administration, allowing access to information and services without the mobility. The ministry aims to reach an administration without papers”.

“With the entry of the electronic civil status register of citizens who are born abroad, it would be possible to use their national identification number, which would constitute the new identity of each citizen, and there would be no need to extract or request a document”.
