In her strange statement, Naima Salhi, head of Al Bayan Party, raised the condemnation of the Algerian public opinion, accused the MP of Boumerdes province (eastern Algiers) and icon of the Algerian revolution the war veteran Djamila Bouhired of working in favor of France and the betrayal of Algeria and suffering dementia.

For me, you will never be an example of Algeria revolution anymore. I do not know. Either you have reached the level of dementia, or France made you and created you to be a heroine.”
Naima Salhi’s statement raised new resentment and disapproval through social networks, and a wide range of intellectuals and academics called for a lawsuit against Salhi on charges of abuse of a historic icon, a lawsuit which was received within hours of its launch the support of a large number of Algerians, who expressed their dissatisfaction with the statements of Naima Salehi and their readiness to support the proposal to defend one of the revolutionary icons.
