The Public Prosecution Office of Oran Judicial Council (western Algeria) responded, on Tuesday, in a press statement, which copy was received by Echorouk, regarding what is known as the Oran Port case, in which the man called Noureddine Tounsi was prosecuted before the investigating judge in the court of Oran, on the background of what was circulated in some media and news websites, after the aforementioned accused commented on social media for several times and ridiculized all the judicial rulings and decisions, and the measures that were taken concerning that file, as these actions are considered by the prosecution that they are reaching the point of compromising the credibility of the judges and mocking many of them, appearing in each time with judicial documents subject to professional secrecy, and because he has no capacity to obtain them as well.

Accordingly, on September 07, 2020, security and judicial services ordered the opening of a preliminary investigation into the facts, which led to the obtaining of evidence that the suspect had contacted foreign parties and provided them with information related to Algerian security services, and the names of personalities exercising sensitive tasks related to their person, and members of their families, with the intervention of these foreign parties with foreign embassies accredited in Algeria to provide assistance and support to those concerned, inviting some international non-governmental organizations to pressurize Algeria, and raise his case even to the United Nations forum if necessary, adding that they also found that the person concerned with obtaining judicial documents and photos of security officials, accusing the judicial and security men with practicing bias and fraud, and he showed this on social media despite the investigations conducted into what they called allegations proved to be false, the concerned person contacted Algerians residing abroad practicing disinformation and extortion, and he provided them with information related to people who exercise sensitive jobs, and their family members as well.

The same statement adds, that on September 21, 2020, the person concerned was arrested and followed up based on the felony of conspiracy with a foreign country, a misdemeanour of insulting a statutory body and committing acts and statements that influence the judicial rulings, to be referred to the investigating judge of Oran court, who issued an order to place him in temporary detention, while the judicial investigation continues.

Regarding the defendant’s health condition, the Public Prosecution clarifies that the accused was exposed to a health problem, as he was transferred on November 26 to a hospital, where he was subjected to medical examinations, and accordingly, it was decided to keep him in the same institution to continue treatment, noting that as any prisoner he receives the necessary medical care following legal and regulatory procedures.
