Pouyanné: “Shale Gas is Very Expensive And Algeria Has Great Potential In Terms Of Traditional Energy Resources”

The CEO of France’s Energy Group “Total”, Mr. Patrick Pouyanné, said Algeria possesses huge potentialities in traditional hydrocarbons (oil and gas) resources, and Algeria should duly explore them, better than reverting to non-conventional resources (shale oil and shale gas).
“The exploitation of the oil and gas shale resource is very costly and requires a large number of expensive drilling wells,” Mr. Patrick Pouyanné told a panel discussion at the Energy Future Summit held on Monday at the International Conference Center “Abdelatif Rahal” on the eastern coast of Algiers.
According to the French official, Algeria has a large margin of movement in the resources of traditional hydrocarbons of oil and gas, through increased exploration and exploitation, stressing that the latter are the best alternative to the resources of non-conventional hydrocarbons.
